Sandy Island Parking Expansion at North Woods

The parking area serving Sandy Island was expanded in 2021, but in the years since, we’ve continued to see a steady increase in the number of families and guests arriving each week. We’re grateful to welcome so many people to this special place. 

To ensure a safe and smooth arrival experience for everyone, we are moving forward with an additional expansion of the parking area. This improvement will help accommodate the growing number of vehicles and reduce the need for roadside parking. 

Parking along the road can create safety concerns—particularly by limiting access for emergency vehicles. Expanding the lot will help keep the roadway clear, improve traffic flow, and provide peace of mind for campers, families, and staff.
